REFLUX
Gastroesophageal Reflux disease, also known as Gastric Reflux, occurs due to stomach contents leaking back into the esophagus. Reflux is caused by the stomach contents containing acid, bile and pancreatic fluid coming into the esophagus and contacting it for a long time, and the esophagus loses its ability to protect itself from this stomach content. The stomach content is significantly acidic due to the hydrogen ion secreted by the stomach. Stomach contents almost always include bile and pancreatic juices. Alkaline bile and pancreatic juices, like stomach acid, cause irritation of the esophagus. Reflux occurs when acidic or bilious stomach contents come into the esophagus and come into contact with it for a long time.
