DISC HERNIATION
Intervertebral disc herniation, which we call lumbar herniation, and cervical vertebral disc herniation, which we call cervical disc herniation, are common today. The pain we call sciatica, which starts from the waist and spreads along the sciatic nerve to the foot, is generally unidirectional and is the main symptom of a herniated disc. It occurs when the sciatic nerve is compressed in the vertebral canal. In cervical disc herniation, there is flattening of the neck axis, fibrositis and symptoms called brachialgia. Acupuncture may be evaluated as a supportive approach for pain-related complaints through physician assessment.
