ALOPECIA

Alopezia is the medical term for hair loss or baldness. Hair loss associated with male or female pattern baldness is actually classified according to type or cause, although there are various causes for alopecia. Androgenetic alopecia is called pattern baldness. This form occurs as a result of the loss of certain types of hormones, usually called androgens. While many men still retain some hair on either side of the head, in men this can often mean total hair loss. Women rarely experience complete hair loss, but they may lose hair in patches.
