ANEMIAS

Anemias that progress with a shortening of the survival time of erythrocytes or, better put, with increased hemolysis findings, are called hemolytic. In a way, this term is inappropriate. Because, as Wintrobe has clearly stated, shortening the lifespan of erythrocytes alone is not considered hemolytic anemia. The same is said for some infectious anemia.
