GINGIVIT

Gingivitis, defined as inflammation of the gums, is usually due to plaque formation on the tooth. The toxins produced by the bacteria in plaque irritate the gums, causing them to become infected, tender, swollen and turn red-purple. Pregnant women and diabetics are particularly susceptible to this disease.

Gingivitis is a reversible disease. Good oral hygiene is the main way to prevent and treat this disease. However, if left untreated, it can cause damage to gum tissue.
