POLIOMYELITIS
POLYOMYELITIS
While polio causes no symptoms in approximately 90% of infections, affected individuals may develop symptoms if the virus enters the body. In approximately 1% of cases, the virus enters the central nervous system and affects motor neurons, causing muscle weakness and acute flux paralysis. Paralysis can occur in different types depending on the nerves. Spinal polio is characterized by asymmetric paralysis usually affecting the legs and is the most common form. Bulbar polio causes muscle weakness. Acupuncture can provide answers within 6 months with early diagnosis.
